Anime Zero Trials: How the Mode Runs and What It Unlocks

Trials is the wave mode Anime Zero added with Update 3 on October 12, 2026. Clear rooms of enemies in a circular arena, stack a damage bonus as the run levels you up, and ride the elevator upward until a Boss Wave ends the attempt. The same update added three Lyth class kits that unlock by room target — Void Arbiter at Room 325, Silver Calamity on a solo Room 125 clear and Astral Blossom on a co-op Room 150 clear, read from the in-game Classes panel. The update log prints different names and different room numbers for the same three rewards, and this page marks the difference instead of picking one.

What Trials Is

Trials arrived with Update 3, which the studio shipped on October 12, 2026 and marked by renaming the game listing to Anime Zero [Void Arbiter]. It is a wave mode played in a circular arena rather than a story act or a raid:

  • Enemies spawn around the edge of the arena.
  • You clear the room, and the run moves up to the next one.
  • A Boss Wave closes the run.

Update 3 added it alongside a guilds redesign, matchmaking, season leaderboard rewards, 13 new accessories, 11 new emotes, 15 character slots, a camera shake slider, a Hide UI keybind and 17 language options, according to the in-game update log.

How a Trials Run Works

  1. Clear the room. Kills inside a room fill an experience bar.
  2. Level up inside the run. Each LEVEL UP raises your damage for the rest of that attempt, so the first rooms are the slowest and the late rooms pay far more per kill.
  3. Take the elevator. When the room is cleared, the middle of the arena opens with a Go to the elevator! prompt. Press E or the on-screen Ascend button to go straight up, or let the short countdown move you automatically.
  4. Survive the Boss Wave. The last room is a boss. Clearing it ends the run on a VICTORY panel that lists damage, kills and an MVP.

There is no continue-to-next-room button on the results panel: a new attempt starts from the lobby, so plan a Trials session as several separate runs rather than one endless climb.

The Three Lyth Class Unlocks

Trials is where the new Lyth class kits come from, and the requirement is a room number rather than a drop chance. The TRIALS → Classes panel reads:

KitRarityClasses card requirement
Void ArbiterLythClear Room 325
Silver Calamity (Frieren)LythClear Room 125+ solo
Astral BlossomLythClear Room 150+ co-op

Two of the three cards name a party shape, solo for Silver Calamity and co-op for Astral Blossom, which is the clearest statement the game makes about how each target is meant to be attempted. Unlocking a kit is not the same as finishing it: awakening a Lyth kit is a separate material goal, and the weapons database covers where each kit sits.

Room Rewards

Clearing a room pays currencies and materials, not only experience. A recorded Update 3 run showed the Room 3 clear paying:

  • 35,000 Coins
  • 15 blue crystals
  • 25 dice
  • 26% chance at a fruit drop, 37% at meat, and a boss chance on top

That is one room read from one run, not a per-room table, so read the reward card for the room you are standing in before deciding how far to push. The same update's 13 new accessories are built from mode drops, and the accessories page lists the recipes.

The Room Numbers the Game Disagrees On

The Update 3 log and the in-game Classes panel do not match, and a third external reading disagrees with both:

SourceWhat it says the mode awards
In-game update log (Update 3)Rin Okumura — Trials top 3 · Frieren — Trials room 250 · Astra Yao — Trials room 175
TRIALS → Classes panelVoid Arbiter — Room 325 · Silver Calamity — Room 125+ solo · Astral Blossom — Room 150+ co-op
Independent player wiki (reviewed October 14, 2026)Silver Calamity — Trials Floor 50+

The log names the anime characters and the panel names the in-game kits, and at least one creator reads Silver Calamity, Astral Blossom and Void Arbiter as the same three rewards as Frieren, Astra Yao and Rin Okumura. The room numbers do not line up either: 250 on the log against 125 or 50 elsewhere for one kit. Until the game settles it, open Trials → Classes and read the card for the kit you actually want.

What No Source Settles

  1. Room numbering. Whether “room” and “floor” are the same counter is unresolved; the published targets for one kit differ by a factor of two.
  2. Whether the party labels are enforced. The cards say solo and co-op, but nothing published says whether entering with the wrong party size blocks credit.
  3. What “Trials top 3” means. If the log’s entry is real, it reads as a leaderboard placement rather than a room clear. No source states whether it is seasonal or permanent.
  4. Rewards past Room 3. Only one room’s payout has a published reading, and room rewards may scale up.
  5. Whether an AFK setup is safe. The room loop waits a few seconds before moving you up, which is what makes idle farming guides plausible, but no published source states the anti-idle behaviour or the reward a partial run banks.
Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you unlock Void Arbiter in Anime Zero?

The in-game Classes card asks for a Room 325 clear. That is the panel reading, not the update log's: the log named a different set of rewards. Open Trials, press Classes and read the card for the kit you want before spending a long session on it.

How do you unlock Silver Calamity in Anime Zero?

Silver Calamity is Frieren's Trials kit. Its Classes card asks for a solo clear of Room 125 or higher; an independent player wiki writes the same unlock as Trials Floor 50+, so the numbering is not settled. Clearing the target only unlocks the kit: its awakening is a separate, much larger material goal.

Can you play Trials solo, or does it need a party?

Both are played. Astral Blossom's card asks for a co-op clear of Room 150 or higher while Silver Calamity's asks for a solo Room 125 clear, so the mode supports either. Whether the labels are strict checks or only guidance for the run is not published, so test it on a room you can already finish.

How do you move to the next Trials room faster?

Press E or the Ascend button as soon as the elevator prompt appears instead of waiting for the automatic transfer; in the recorded run that skipped a wait of about five seconds per room. Nothing showed a way to skip the fight itself, and the run pays out per room cleared, so skipping a room is not the same as clearing it.
